31 Years!!!

31 Years!!!! 11 Different Addresses...3 different states...2 beautiful daughters...several major career and life plan changes...many, many incredible adventures known as family vacations...Walk to Emmaus weekends that changed both of our lives forever...ministry with high school students who will forever be a part of our lives (Jackson's story)...Kindred Spirits who came into our lives and will remain forever on earth and in heaven...surviving one huge Hurricame Hugo...burying parents too early in life...2 high school graduations...taking care of aging parents...1 college graduation... 1 fairy tale wedding...1 incredible son-in-law...1 soon-to-be nurse extrordinaire...1 soon-to-be Mom and a phenomenal teacher...1 Marine Osprey Pilot who will be protecting your lives and freedom..life changes...seasons come and go...but in all of that - what remains and holds constant is our True North, our faith and belief in Jesus Christ...that is what has kept us together, that is what has made us Best Friends Forever...and in the words from our wedding ceremony 31 years ago today from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran...OK - I KNOW, WE WERE CHILDREN OF THE 70's...
Then Almitra spoke again and said, "And what of Marriage, master?"

And he answered saying:

You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.

You shall be together when white wings of death scatter your days.

Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.

But let there be spaces in your togetherness,

And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another but make not a bond of love:

Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.

Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.

Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,

Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.

For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.

And stand together, yet not too near together:

For the pillars of the temple stand apart,

And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

Ok...you have made me cry again. I am so honored to be one of your Kindred Spirits, and never have I had such great friends. You have helped me keep my sanity and my religion during some trying time over the years.

The picture is great...when did you have it done?

Happy, happy anniversary and many more.
